| A "Message" From Honky D
Good morning/afternoon/evening/sleepless night. A few words on Election 2004, which is fast upon us now. In 2000, I worked on the Nader campaign and I was proud to do so. In the course of working on that campaign, I became an active member of the Green Party. Too bad Ralph never did. If he had, he might have realized that what made sense in 2000 doesn't make sense now. While I agree with Ralph's critique of the two party system strongly, i.e. that both Democrats and Republicans are cash register politicians who cater to an ever narrower clique of well-heeled corporate self-serving assholes, I will have to concede that this time around, there is at least something of a difference. And it can be summed up thusly:
George W. Bush and his gang of thugs are incredibly dangerous and MUST be removed from power before they cause even more damage than they already have. They are more than a nuisance, more than even a serious problem; they are a no-shit threat to the Constitution, to the survival of the American republic, and to the world as a whole. They thrive on secrecy and lies. They have demonstrated disrespect for international and domestic law, minorities, women, the poor, the environment, and even democracy itself. To call them sellouts is to underestimate (misunderestiumate?) the gravity of the threat they pose. Some people who've been around for a long time, you know, real radicals like Andy Rooney from 60 Minutes, have speculated that this country may not well survive another four imperious years under the heel of King George the Fool. Are you ready to take that chance?
Now, that said, I'll confide that John Kerry is a limp failure as a candidate, a zombie on the playing field, a bore, a sellout, a snooze, and a typical Beltway Boy. But so what. Even a tepid fraud like him will be like spring rain compared to the torrent of misery that the Bush bastards have yet in store for this nation and the world.
I urge you to take your chances on the frumpy failure that is John Kerry. And as for Ralph, well, much as I think he's wrongheaded to run this year, I still kinda like him. He's plucky. And if enough of you heed my words and decide to vote for Kerry, you'll make it possible for me to vote my conscience again. So, do that. Thanks.
